Hello All,
I'm looking for any information on a Patrick Lanigan and Catherine Kennedy?
The information I've found so far is:
They had atleast 3 children Martin(1826-1907), Sarah(1829-1859), Michael - i found the baptism records for Martin and Sarah in Moneygall parish records
Both Baptism record list Patrick as Patt Lanigan and one as Cath and the other Catherine Kennedy
Sarah's Baptism record list James (sp? Tushy) & Anne Lanigan as Sponsors
They immigrated to Canada - atleast the children did, not sure if Patrick or Catherine went or just one of them. Martin had 1840 listed in a 1901 census
Patrick Lanigan was listed as deceased in Sarah's marriage certificated in 1852
Any help is appreciated, Thanks

Martin:
Welcome to Ireland Reaching Out!
I searched on the subscription site Roots Ireland and found Michael's 1831 baptismal record in the Dunkerrin RC parish (which is the same parish as Moneygall) records. I also located a record for Nicholas in 1835 and John in 1836. See below.
Here is the parish register https://registers.nli.ie/parishes/0762 You may want to scan for other possible records. The family lived in Knockaun townland in Durrow civil parish.
Let me know if you have any questions.

Thanks for your help,
I've googled all the places in the baptism records and they all seem to be scathered across ireland, how did you come up with Knockaun townland in Durrow civil parish?

Martin:
So I see I made a mistake, my apologies. It should be Loughaun townland in Durrow civil parish
Here is how I came up with Loughaun
Generally the spelling of townlands in the 19th century was "flexible" In addition, the priest's handwriting was not always the best so the Roots Ireland transcriber did the best they could with the spelling. Usually an RC church may have as many as five civil parishes that fed into the RC parish service area. I have a research book that shows which parishes were connected with a certain RC parish. I looked at the townlands in each parish and saw that Durrow had a parish called Loughaun.

I would like to thank everybody that's helping, this is great
This has been a brick wall for years, even just finding Nicholas and John was exiting. BTW i might of found Nicholas decendants on Ancestry, just trying to tie it together with some records

Could someone do me a favor and do a search for me?
One of my DNA Matches on ancestry has a Lanigan ancestor, but i have hit a wall with the resources i use.
His ancestor is a Mary Lanigan (1790-1868) daughter of Matt Lanigan and Maria Darcy, I have found 4 other daughters (Marg, Bridget, Anne, Judy) to Matt and Maria but no sons. Mary Lanigan would be about the same age as my Patrick Lanigan (b. late 1700 early 1800)
could you search 1. Do Matt Lanigan and Maria Darcy have more children?
2. Patrick Lanigan and Catherine Kennedy (Marriage record) I've been unsuccesfull in finding one
My theory on this is Matt Lanigan is either Patrick Lanigan's father or uncle

Martin:
I looked for Lanigan children of Matthew around 1800 in Co. Offaly and there were no records on the subscription site Roots Ireland. Dunkerrin/Moneygall records do not begin until 1820. I then expanded the search to all of Ireland and found three children up in Kilkenny town. The three records on Roots Ireland were Mary 1790 Denis 1802 Judith 1806. All three records were in St. Canice's church. The transcription for Denis' record shows mother as Mary Devy which I believe is Mary Darcy. The family lived in Butts Cross for both the Denis and Judith records.
I did not find a record for Marg, Bridget or Anne and no record for Patrick either. You would think there would be more children between 1790 and 1802. You can scan the parish register for St. Canice's https://registers.nli.ie/parishes/0990

Could someone look this up for me, I found a possible brother for Catherine he lived in the same area and even had Catherine's children listed in his household in one census. Im trying to prove that Catherine is his sister
Michael Kennedy(abt.1815-1876) son of Nicholas Kennedy and Honorah Hardy (as per his Marriage certificate)
Could you also look if they're more children for Nicholas Kennedy and Honorah Hardy, and if Catherine (Cath) is their daughter?
Any help is appreciated, Thanks
