My 2nd greatgrandparents were James Maher and Bridget Costigan. They had at least two children - Anna/e J. and John J. (b. C.early 1860s) both of whom came to America in the 1890s.
James and Bridget are listed as parents on Anne's death certificate (thought there was no birthday for Anne. My grandmother, Anne's daughter, said Anne was born near Roscrea whereas another cousin has info that she was from Templemore. Would this board consider Templemore be "near Roscrea?"
In any case, I cannot find a birth certificate for Anne ( I did for John and several other children), nor a marriage record for James and Bridget. I did find a birth record for Bridget, but I am not sure if it is truly my Bridget.
Any help is appreciated!
Anne

Anne:
Hello again!
Templemore is about three parishes to the south of Roscrea. I will alert our parish liaison in Roscrea about your message. let me know if you have not heard back in ten days or so.

Thanks, Roger!
I thought it better to check here whether or not I should post directly to Templemore or Roscrea.

Thanks for your help!

Anne:
No need to post in Roscrea or Templemore. I already alerted the Roscrea parish liaison and based on Tom's research, I will also alert our Bourney parish liaison. They might have some info to add

Dear all,
You are the best! What a wonderful post to see first thing in the morning!
I had found James and Bridget in Bourney a few years ago, but I could not find Anne in the list children anywhere. Given how often names are repeated in Ireland, I thought it might simply have been a duplicate James Maher and Bridget Costigan.
Given I now have all the siblings names of Anne and John, I will be able to find a whole bunch of new cousins!
Thank you so much, Tom. Any help you can give in helping me find certificates will be wonderful.
Roger, thanks so much for shepherding this info request through and to the correct channels.
Best wishes always,
Anne

Ann,
Thank you for taking such an interest. I hope someone knows something about my family.
As I mentioned in my original post, Anne Maher was my g-grandmother. My paternal grandmother Thelma was born here in America, but her sister Sophia was born in Ireland and remained there to have 10 children. My husband and I will be coming over next April to celebrate Sophia's 100th wedding annivesary in Wexford.
I hope to drive through Kilkenny, my paternal grandfather's ancestral county, to Tipperary to visit Templemore. Now that I know the Mahers' townlands, I can at least drive by, stop, and think about all of them. To actually be there will be thrilling. I've been to Tipperary and have probably driven through the area. Crazy!
I will continue to work on James and Bridget's children in the hope of finding some connection to those living in the area before next April. Wouldn't that be the best! :)
Best wishes always,
Anne
