Godfrey Taylor (Carrigan) is my 3rd great grandfather married to Catherine Clarke(from Lickmolash) on 7th September, 1841.
Elizabeth Taylor their daughter (my 2nd great grandmother) was baptised 13th May 1844 Clonoulty, Tipperary, residence Place Carrigan (Carrigeen) Sponser- Margaret Mulligan.
On the Primary Valuation of Tenements, Parish of Clonoulty under Townland Carrigeen Godfrey Taylor is listed as Occupier of House, Office and land with the Lessor being Viscount Hawarden.
I also found a birth for April 1842 for an Ellen, illegitimate, of Godfrey Taylor and Ellen Kennedy but not too sure if this is him.
Two other children were born Fanny and Annie, before they emmigrated to Victoria, Australia. I haven't located shipping records as yet.
I don't have records of these births and also of a son Richard Henry.
Godfrey died in 1860 at Killarney, Victoria and Catherine Taylor nee Clarke died in 1904 at Crossley, Moyne, Victoria.
If anyone else have these ancestor's in their tree I would love to hear from you. Also, if any one can tell me best place to look for shipping records I would appreciate that.
Cheers Alison

Hi Alison,
My name is Andrew from Melbourne, Australia. I've got a bit of info for you on Fanny Taylor, as she's my great-great grandmother.
I haven't located their passage records, but I can give you some information about Fanny's life in Australia. The Taylors settled in Crossley, near the town of Koroit in South-West Victoria between Port Fairy and Warrnambool. Fanny Taylor married John Ryan (b. 1841 Co. Tippary, d. 1919 Koroit, Victoria) in 1867 at Port Fairy, Victoria. They had 9 children, including my great-grandmother, Margaret Mary Ryan (1884-1969, married Joseph Lawrence Sheehan in Koroit in 1904). Fanny only outlived her mother by 4 years, passing away at Crossley in 1908.
Additionally, Catherine Taylor (nee Clarke)'s death record in Victoria shows she was 85 when she died in 1904, which puts her birth somewhere around 1819, with her birthplace listed as Co. Galway. Her death record lists her parents as Richard Clarke and Fanny Shoebridge, and that she has been in Victoria for 51 years, which means they would have immigrated around 1853.
Regarding the Taylors in Ireland, do we know where Godfrey and Catherine were married in 1841? also anything about when/where Godfrey was born?
All the best,
Andrew

Hi Alison,
For a site that has good ship passenger/manifest records, I have had good luck with the site at the link below. I found my Grt-Grt-Grandparents and their family on a ship passenger list from 1870 through this site. If they traveled as a family it makes a positive identity much easier. A different ancestor of mine traveled alone (I think) and I have found several young men with the same name emigrating around the same time I think he did. But it is harder to know for certain which one is MY ancestor. With the children traveling with the parents it gives you much more assurance that this is the same family you are looking for.
Good luck with your search!
