Here's hoping this Parish will be active by the time a couple dozen Murray cousins return from America in 2013! Our search for the proper Murray and Hackett families is a bit muddied.
Patrick Murray married Mary Hackett in 1831 in Curraghtarsna and their children began emigrating to the US in the 1860s. We don't have enough Irish data to guess which of the local families they come from.
But then, our 2013 trip will be for pleasure and not genealogy work, so the pressure is off :) We'll uncover our lost family eventually and in the meantime look forward to just soaking up the Tipperary spirit!

Thanks so much for checking into things for us!
Yes, Bruce Brandon is my brother and the lead researcher these days for the Murray folks of western Massachusetts, USA. And he'll probably (now that I check further) correct me in that a record or two moves our family over to Fethard, one parish over.
But we've got time to play with before our generation's Trip of a Lifetime. Our parents, nine brothers and sisters (grandchildren of our Murray immigrant), toured your lovely land in the 1980s.
Our turn, next year!
Many thanks,
Sally Brandon

Hello. I have Herricks and Browns (who I am 95% sure are my relatives) who lived in Curraghtarsna for several generations, including the time period you mentioned. It appears that one of the Browns married a Murray. Would love to connect here and also see if we are DNA cousins if you have tested at Ancestry. Hope to hear back from you soon!
