  • Dear Lesley:

Many thanks for your query to the Ireland Reaching Out message board and welcome!

We do not have a Parish Liaison for Loughmore but I have made an enquiry to someone who may have some knowledge of that area.

In the meantime, you might be able to trace this family through the records.

Derby (Darby) is a nickname for Jeremiah and it is possible that he is listed in Griffith's Valuation.  You can check that resource at this link:

    www.askaboutireland.com/griffith's.

Civil Registration started in Ireland in 1864, and you can search the birth, marriage and deaths for Ireland for free at this link:

www.irishgenealogy.ie  Click on Civil Records.  Loughmore would be under the Registration district of Thurles.

In addition, you might also do a check of graveyard inscriptions that are available online at:

    www.historicgraves.com.

In addition, you might check the 1901 Census for Lowrys in Loughmore parish.

If you need further assistance, please do not hesitate to contact us.

    Kind regards,

    Jane

  • Jane, thank you so much for your information. We have just returned to Australia after trip to Ireland (that didn't touch the sides) so I am keen to follow up with tracking down ancestors. Thank you again and best regards, Lesley
