Hi, I am researching John Bourke born 1837 in Kilfeacle. Possible parents ?? - Edward Bourke 1810 - Catherine ??. Emigrated to Australia (Sydney) in 1860. Married Margaret Eviston 1864 in Bathurst NSW Aust.

Any assistance would be greatly appreciated.

The Catholic parish for the area is Golden. That parish is part of the Archdiocese of Cashel and Emly and records for that Archdiocese with a few exceptions are not online at this time. However, on July 8th the National Library of Ireland is placing all RC parish registers online for free searching. I would review the Golden/Kilfeacle register at that time. See below for years available.

    Golden and Kilfeacle Baptisms May 20, 1833 - Dec. 14, 1880 P.2503
    Marriages May 20, 1833 - Nov. 7, 1880

Thats great news regarding the records becoming available in July, I will certainly do a search then.

Thank you very much for the archdiocese information also, very handy to know.

    Thanks again,

    Hi Roger,

I have gone through the Cashel and Emiy records online with a fine tooth comb, The only John Bourke I came across from Kilfeacle was baptised sept 1835. This seems to be out by two years according to his shipping info, which states him at age 23 in 1860. Would it be possible for him to have been baptised in a neighbouring parish. Do you have any other idea as to why he may not be in the records ??

    Thanks,

    James
