Hello Gambonsfield!
Did you know that famous Australian bushranger Ned Kelly's paternal grandmother, Mary Cody, is recorded as coming from Gambonsfield? http://www.slieveardagh.com/people/john-red-kelly/
Mary married Thomas Kelly from Clonbrogan in Moyglass Church in 1819. Many of their children, including Ned Kelly's father, John Red Kelly went to Australia, and the story went on from there to become an Australian legend.
I am wondering though whether Mary Cody's brothers and sisters also came to Australia or stayed in their local area, probably some stayed, others did not.
I am asking because Cody is a prominent name in my family background, and we think the family is related to Mary Cody.
I couldn't think of a better place to ask if there are any Codys still living in Gambonsfield or in the district that anyone knows of, or if anyone knows if they have Cody forebears in that district. I have recently done an Ancestry.com DNA test, and of the many connections that have come up there with others who I share ancestors with, the name Coady, spelt that way, features. The member currently lives in Dublin. So there it is...
Are there any Codys still at Gambonsfield or around, could you let me know at all please?
Go raibh mile maith agat.
Regards to all.

Hi Paul
Apologies for the long delay in getting back to you.
Have you had a look at rootsireland.ie or familysearch.org to see if there are any records to connect Mary to your family?
If you would be interested in writing a short piece (500 words) we would be happy to include the Ned Kelly connection as a news article on our site.
Best wishes
