Hello!

My Grandfather, Thomas Joseph Moore, was a tailor trained by his father and who moved to the UK in the early 1900s where he met my grandmother.

Thomas's father was called Malachy Moore (who was the son of John Moore) and Malachy was warried to Margaret Whelen.

They had a tailors shop on Main Street, Borrisokane, and apart from my grandfather, they had (it think) 6 other sons and daughters: James, Michael, Margaret, Patrick, Malachy and Kathleen Moore, all of whom I know very little, except that Patrick and Malachy joined up to fight in the first world war where they were stretcher bearers, and that while there Malachy wrote a poem about the great war called "Dog Biscuits and Bully"

My grandfather passed away long before I was born and I know so very little else about my Irish background.

Before her death, my mother visited Borrisokane and met up with some Moores still in the area but sadly their details are now lost to me.

I would love to here anything about the family, and hope someone could fill me in on any blanks!

Many thanks

Melhenney

I'm pretty sure I know the family you are connected to. I will make a few enquiries around to confirm this and will get back to you soon with hopefully some concrete information.
