I am wondering if there are any families with the surname Moroney or Coughlan who live in the Ballinahinch Parish area, and whose ancestors have lived in the area since the early-mid 1800s.  If so, these families may be related to me.  I am descended from James Moroney (b. 1816) and his wife Anne Coughlan (b. 1822).  No record of their marriage has been found.

I have baptismal records for their 3 children born in Ireland:

Martin (b. 31 Jan 1845, sponsors Thomas Coughlan and Judith Gleeson)

Bridget (b. 26 Jan 1846, sponsors Patrick Moroney & Bridget McGrath)

James (b. 25 Dec 1848, sponsors Thomas Binane and Bridget Cusack)

All three baptismal records give an address of Shallee, Ballinahinch Parish.  I assume "Shallee" is one of three townlands (Shallee White, Shallee Lower & Upper, and Shallee Coughlan) nearby.

The family left Ireland after the birth of James and before Sept. 1850.  Martin may have died young.  James the father may have had a brother, Michael, born around 1809. Anne probably had a brother John Coughlan.

If there are historical Moroney or Coughlan families still in the area, perhaps they may be related and know of family history including my ancestors.
