  • Hi

If you haven't already- you could try checking the land records called the Tithe Applotment Books (1823-38) http://titheapplotmentbooks.nationalarchives.ie/search/tab/home.jsp  or the later Griffith's Valuation (1848-64) http://www.askaboutireland.ie/griffith-valuation/     or the Church of Latter Day Saints (LDS) https://familysearch.org/         for relatives of bridget & Thomas.

Church records may also be of use to you. Most Catholic records are held locally - One site which might be of use is - http://www.irishtimes.com/ancestor/browse/ - where you can ?browse? an overview of available records per county. If you have any difficulty, you could try writing to the parish priest for possible assistance.

Church of Ireland parish registers for the period up to 1870-are public records. Registers are available for about one third of the parishes, however many were destroyed in the Public Records Office in Dublin in 1922. Most are still held by the local clergy, although some are in the National Archives of Ireland and others are in the Representative Church Body Library in Dublin. A list of all surviving registers is available in the National Archives. http://ireland.anglican.org/about/42 and http://www.nationalarchives.ie/.  The Anglican Record Project is has created an index to their records: http://ireland.anglican.org/cmsfiles/pdf/AboutUs/library/AngRecord/bunclodyunionindex.pdf

Please be patient - as our programme has only begun to rollout across the island of Ireland and volunteers in some areas may not yet be organized.

  • This may not be of any help to you but there may be a family connection.  My Great GM was Bridget Feely Phillips married to James Phillips.  They lived in County Sligo, Sligo South, Tubbercurry, Achonry West, Cully.  My GM was born in 1874 and her name was Bridget Phillips Kane.  Hope this is of interest to you or to someone else.

  • Hi

I am related to Thomas Fleming & Bridget Philips distantly. My gg grandparents Michael Normally and Margaret Fleming came from Cully too, they emigrated to Dewsbury and also lived in Castleton, Lancashire. Thomas Fleming married Bridget Philips on 17th February 1863 in Rochdale, they lived at Bluepits, Castleton. Thomas' father was James Fleming a farmer, and Bridget's father was James Philips Farm Labourer. I would like to collaborate with you could you email me. I look forward to your reply.

    Kind Regards, David.

  • David,

This format is confusing, I am not sure if it is me that you would like to colaborate further with or the person that posted first in 2013.   If you want to contact me my email is johnbearce@yahoo.com

My Great GF was James Phillips he was married twice, not sure who the first wife was or if they had any children. His secondd wife was Bridget Feehily and they lived and raised their family in Cully.

I do have a family tree that goes back to John Philips b1806 married to Aileen Gallagher.   I don't have a lot of information but do have this tree that was given  me to by Anelle Waters.  Her dad had put this tree together.  The tree does show Edward Philllips b1836-d1894 that married Bridget Fleming b1845-d1920.  They had a daughter Bridget Philips b1875-d1917.

I would like to find out more information on the Phillips family from Cully.  I have my DNA tested and am listed on Gedmatch.com
