I’m searching for information about the family of Mary Cahill who sailed to Australia in 1864 aged about 20. Her parents are listed on her marriage certificate as Thomas Cahill and Mary Kenny. This couple as my ggg grandparents.
Mary’s brother William and sister Honora immigrated too, but on different ships and they all lived in Queensland.
I believe that Thomas Cahill’s relative Ann (Orkney) went to Canada where she married John Mills.
Julia Cahill b abt 1851 married Tom Scully.
I also believe that Mary Kenny’s relative Bridget went to Western Australia and married James Cashin.
any assistance would be greatly appreciated.
thanking you Sue Muspratt, Queensland Australia

Sue:
The subscription site Roots Ireland has five baptismal records for children of Thomas Cahill and Mary Kenny: Honoria 1832 John 1835 William 1836 Mary baptized January 15 1844 Julie 1847 The RC parish was Kilcolman. I could not find a specific townland where they lived. I also did not find a marriage record and Thomas was not listed in the Griffiths Valuation.

Sue:
Working on the premise that Thomas died sometime after Julie was born, I looked for Mary Cahill in the Griffiths. There was a Mary Cahill listed in Rathmore townland Kilcolman civil parish. Very likely this is your Mary Cahill. The Griffiths was conducted around 1852-1853 in Co.Offaly.I did not locate a death record for Mary.

I’d like to add that the name Ann Cahill above is also recorded as Orney Cahill but spell check helped me out and changed it to Orkney.
