My great grandmother was Elizabeth Egan, of Shannonbridge born about 1854. She was the eldest of ten children, and her parents were Patrick Egan and Bridget Daly.I have found her father in the GV in Clonever townland, and also her widowed mother and youngest siblings in the 1901 census for the same townland.
I would love to meet up with any descendants of her siblings who may still be in the area, when I visit Ireland this June.

Anne:
Welcome to Ireland Reaching Out!
Looks like Bridget died on July 20 1914. Here is a link to the civil death record. You will have to sign-in to see the image.

Egan is a very common surname in Co. Offaly. I looked at the online Irish phone book (partial list of phone users) and there were a number of Egan records but I did not see any in Clonmacnoise. I also checked Turley which was her sister's married name and there was only one Turley in Offaly. https://www.eirphonebook.ie/
We do not have a parish liaison in Clonmacnoise but let me check with our HQ.
Aldo, long-term you may want to consider autosomal DNA testing.

Hello Anne
Just spoke to Seamus Kelly who works in Clonmacnoise and he is going over the next few days to try and find out about your family in this area.
He said to leave it a few days and he will contact me back.
Hope this might be of some help

Hello Ann
Got a text message back from Seamus in Clonmacnoise and he suggested the following:
Offaly Historical Society - email - info@offalyhistory.com
I have sent them an email on your behalf.
Also I have sent an email to a John Tierney in USA - I know he has researched a lot of Egans in Offaly - asking him if your Egans might be related.
Will let you know if I hear anything

Hi geraldine
thank you for all you have done to help me in my research.
I think I will be in Shannonbridge on monday June 26.
The American connection might be interesting. I think that Elizabeth Egan may have had a sister or two who went to America.
There was only one boy in the family to carry on the family name, Kieran born in 1873.
I have found a marriage record for him in Dublin in 1902, but I have not found any children to his marriage to Lizzie Kenny.
I will follow up as Seamus suggested, with the Offaly Historical Society.
Thanks again
Anne

Hello Anne
This is the reply I received from Offaly Historical Society.

Dear Geraldine,
Thank you for your e-mail. I have searched our Church records and have located the baptismal records of six children to Patrick Egan and Bridget Daly.
Also the family of Bridget Egan in the 1901 census of Ireland in the District of Shannonbridge.
At our centre we only have church records up to 1900, so I would not be in a position to find descendants of Elizabeth's siblings in the area.My advise is that when the lady visits Ireland in June, she should visit the town of Ferbane and call in to Hennessy's public house, Main Street, Ferbane, the owner who is local
maybe able to help this lady, although as you can appreciate the surname Egan is very numerous in that area of County Offaly. If Anne wants me to research her Egan ancestry, you can refer he to me and we can conduct preliminary and see what we may find. All the details are on our website
