Looking for any Blackburnes (with or without the "e" ) from Ballinode, Tydavnet.  My direct ancestor, Joseph Blackburne, was from the townland of Creesil and lived between c 1773 to 1856.  They seem to have been grocers there and around Monaghan town.

Many thanks.

  • hi,

In Griffiths Valuation c.1858 there are 5 BLACKBURNs in Tedavnet.

John and Thomas are farming in Creesil on land leased from a Gertrude ROSE.

They seem to have gone by 1901 when the Census was taken.

There are a couple of BLACKBURN families still in other parts of Monaghan.
