Hi Everyone

I am trying to find out information about the Hannan/Hanan/Hanon Family from around the area of Magheracloone Monaghan Ireland. I believe that my 5 x Great Grand Father was Peter Hannan born about 1760. His son John Hannan was my 4 x Great Grand Father and served in the Battle of Waterloo and then as a Chelsea Pensioner was allowed to move with his family to New South Wales Australia to serve with the 57th Regiment bet 1826-1829.

if anyone could point me in the right direction to find out information about this family it would be greatly appreciated.

Regards

  • I'm going to assume your family was RC. The records for that parish do not start until 1826 too late for your ancestors. I also checked the Griffiths Valuation head of household listing for the parish and there were no Hannan/Hannons in 1861 in the parish. Same with the 1832 Tithe Applotment listings for the parish.
