I saw your message yesterday in the Clones Monaghan parish page and that Col had responded. It would help to know which religious denomination for the family. I assume C of I or Presbyterian. Non-Catholic marriages were civilly registered starting in 1845. (RC marriages started in 1864). I could not find a civil index record for the marriage.

I assume you know that the two Clones parishes border each other.

I checked the 1861-1862 Griffiths Valuation head of household listings in both counties. There were four William Moore in Clones Fermanagh and two William Moores in Clones Monaghan.

I searched Roots Ireland 1845-1865 in both counties and could not find a William Moore marriage to a Susan. Not all churches are on Roots.

Thanks for your helpful comments;  this has been a frustrating longtime search.

My ggrandmother Mary Moore was Roman Catholic and there are some baptismal entries for this family at St Tierney in Rosslea but in latter census records (1901/1911), her siblings are listed as born in county Monahan.

Mary Moore emigrated to the US (New York City) but appears to be the only member of the family to have done so, with the others remaining in the Clones area:

A couple of thoughts:

The RC parish of Clones is mostly in Co Monaghan but a bit extends across into Co. Fermanagh, including the area around Roslea, which is only a couple of miles from the county border. Your ancestors could well have lived in Co Monaghan, but attended church in Roslea, Fermanagh. It?s all the same parish. So because of that anomaly you could easily have somone born in Co. Monaghan, whose baptism appears in a church record for Co. Fermanagh.

Also, if your ancestors were agricultural labourers, they would often move around a bit over the years to follow available work. It wouldn?t be too unusual to have some children born in Monaghan and others born in Fermanagh. They would only have had to move a couple of miles for that to happen.
