I have recently had a transcribe of 1851 England Census which states my 3ggrandfather Patrick Holcroft was born Ireland, County Meath.  I know he was born about 1800 from Census transcripts.  He married Mary Crossley in Manchester, UK in 1824 (parish online) and worked in the cotton mills.  When his son was married in 1855 his occupation was listed as Bookkeeper.  Patrick and Mary had 5 children, Thomas b.1827, Mary Ann b. 1828, Sarah Ann b. 1831, William b. 1834, Joseph b. 1837.  William married Ann Cooper from Macclesfield, UK in 1855, lived in Kent in 1861 and emigrated to NZ with his family in 1870. Patrick and Mary Holcroft disappear from 1851.  I can find no reference to them in subsequent England Census although I have managed to find their children without too much difficulty.  When Patrick and Mary married the names of their parents was not supplied.  I was wondering if anyone has heard of 'Holcroft's' in County Meath.
