I am looking for information about my 3 x great grandfather, James Cullen before he was transported to Australia in 1821.
The information I have from his Ticket of Leave;
Born 1793/4 County Meath.
Place of trial; 14 March 1821 County Meath. Sentence 7 years. Ship ; John Barry (2) 1821.
On Find My Past Ireland I found Prison Register for Kilmainham Gaol - James Cullen, age 28 b. 1793, Convict from County Meath, committed 25 April 1821, discharged 25 April 1821 to convict ship.
Any information would be appreciated.

I searched www.rootsireland.ie/ for James Cullen 1793 + - 5 years and this is the only one that came up:
Bear in mind there were illiteracy& mistranscription issues with records so a few years off could still be your man.
If you haven't yet you might want to have a look at the Tithe Applotments (free online at http://titheapplotmentbooks.nationalarchives.ie/; there are 18 Cullens in Meath in the 1820's
including 1 James and a Robert.
If Robert was James's father as in the record above, this could be him; also if the irish naming pattern was followed, this James could be a close relative.
Similarly, the Irish Census of 1821 - free at http://www.census.nationalarchives.ie/ has 28 Cullens including some Jameses who are around the right age to be yours. However, if he was already on a ship in April and the census was taken in May, maybe not!
