Greetings all. So happy you are here. For the moment, I will concern myself with only Genealogical concerns. I have other tourism,cultural exchange,heritage, interests as well. For now... Trying to track my Irish lineage and one source I have referred to County Mearth:

CHRISTOPHER GAYNOR, farmer, Sec. 21; P.O. Brookfield Center; was born in County Meath, Ireland; immigrated to Canada with his parents, James and Bridget Gaynor; thence to Kewaunee Co., Wis., in 1858, where his father died; his mother is still a resident of that county. He married in Kewaunee County, in January, 1868, Mary Newman; she was born in the town of Menomonee, this count, and was the daughter of Michael and Mary Newman, early settlers of that town; they have four children living--Margaret, Mary E., Elizabeth and Christopher; tow children deceased--Thomas and Joseph. Mr. Gaynor was Chairman of the Brookfield Board of Supervisors in 1876-77, 1879-80; four terms; owns finely located and well-improved farm. USGENWEB Waukesha,WI      I believe this  Christopher is related to my GGGrandfather- Patrick Gainor:

Birth: Aug. 15, 1815, IrelandDeath: Jul. 15, 1900
Blue Earth County
Minnesota, USA


Son of **Patrick Gainor and **Mary Ball.
Husband of Mary Coughlin.
Father of Christopher, Malachi, Mattilda, Pstrick, Catherine, James, Maria, Anna, and John.
Farmer in Lyra Twp. where he died. 
 Spouse:
  Mary Coughlin Gainor (1817 - 1891)
 Children:
  Christopher Gainor (1845 - 1905)and many more

So- I am looking to determine IF **Patrick Gainor and Mary Ball Gainor** came from County Meath as did this other Christopher Gaynor. I've seen both spellings Gaynor and Gainor, within the same family. 

  Any help with these people would be greatly appreciated!! thanks so much from Green Bay, WI!!

    Do you have any idea where in Meath they may have come from? Do you know much about their emigration? Dates, the reason why they left, who they may have travelled with etc.? Generally more information was given at the port of arrival rather than the port of departure. If you knew which city/port they travelled through/arrived at (e.g. Liverpool, New York, Boston etc....), this could be a good place to find more information, and perhaps even find out an exact place of origin. 

     

    What records relating to Ireland have you already searched?

    If you haven't already, you could try checking the land records called the Tithe Applotment Books (1823-38) or the later Griffith's Valuation (1848-64) for some of their relatives still in Ireland. The Tithe Applotment Books (1823-38): Microfilm copies of the books for all of Ireland are available at the National Archives of Ireland (NAI) http://www.nationalarchives.ie/genealogy1/genealogy-records/tithe-applotment-books-and-the-primary-griffith-valuation/ or the Church of Latter Day Saints (LDS).
