I am researching my family ancestry / living relatives and so far have the following information:-

My father, John Francis Brady was (as per birth certificate) born 1/2/1923, Rathbracks, Kilskeer, Kells, County Meath of parents Joseph Brady (1892-1977) and Margaret Mary Christina Coogan (1894-1986) who were married in the RC church in Kells on the 14th May 1919. Josephs' parents were John Brady (1845 - 1927 son of John Brady and Margaret McDermott) and Mary Forbes (1853 - 1929) and Margarets' parents were James Coogan and Anne Marry originating in Donore / Dundalk?

Josephs' siblings were, Michael 1875, Margaret 1878-1917, Mary 1881, John 1883, Julia 1886, twins Ellen and Elisabeth 1889 and Patrick 1895.

He has a brother Peter Brady who lived in Oxford, UK,.( now deceased 25.2.2014) also James ( possibly married to Kitty) and Joseph. A sister Ann Robertson nee Brady who lived in London until she died in 2012, also sisters "Daisy" and "Detta" McGee? nee Brady who I think is still living in the Kells area and possibly other brothers and sisters and their extended families of whom I am not yet aware. I have recently received information that I may have a cousin named Sean Brady married to Irene with at least one child named Majella possibly in or near Ballyjamesduff.

To date I have attempted only online research through all of the genealogy sites and although there are plenty of possible leads there are no sources which will confirm sufficiently.(other than the official government /church ones that are only useful if you know exactly what you want and its reference numbers)

Waiting in hopeful anticipation, Michael Brady.

  • I am descended from an Anne Brady, born c. 1863, daughter of Nicholas Brady and Anne Goodman, who were married in R.C. parish of Kells, Co. Meath, 24 Nov 1843.  Besides Anne, they apparently had children John, Mary, Nicholas, Peter, Thomas and Catherine, some of whose baptisms I find in the parish register.  Nicholas, Sen., died in Kells, 5 May 1897.  He was a gardener.  His children John and Anne emigrated to Boston, Mass., USA.  Frank Thompson/New York City.
