I am trying to find more information about my great grand parents: James Mulroy to Margaret Conlon
James Mulroy b, January 1856
His father's name was Michael b. about 1835 his wife (as far as I know) was Honora.
Margaret's parents were Michael Conlon b. about 1832 his wife was Mary McNichols/McNicholas b. about 1834
James went to Lancashire, England and he and his wife were married in 1873, had 5 living children when they were living in England. Mary E. b 1877, William b. 1879, James b. 1880, Margaret b, 1883, and Winifred b. 1885. They went to America (Philadelphia, Pa.) in 1887, and settled in Jersey City, New Jersey.
This is the only information I havee on the Mulroy side. I would like to know if they have any siblings, and what their names were. I believe that Michael Mulroy came from Strade, Templemore, County Mayo.
Thank you in advance,
Pat

Pat:
I have a hunch that the Michael Mulroy in this 1901 census record is the brother of James and son of Michael in your note. http://www.census.nationalarchives.ie/pages/1901/Mayo/Bellavary/Strade/1582579/
If you go to www.nationalarchives.ie and search the 1901 census for Strade, yoiu will see tthree other Mulroy families including a James and a Martin who were possibly brothers to Michael.
You may know this but Strade is the townland that Michael Davitt left to go to England and later found the Irish Land League.

Roger,
Thanks so much for the information. I have been working on this for over a year, and this is the closest I've gotten with info on my Mulroy side. Now I need to find some info on my Murphy side.

If you haven't already done so, check out the site for the Straid cemetery. Your ancestors' headstone may be #122 in the abbey section ( http://www.goldenlangan.com/graves-sa.html )
