Tigue - Tighe Family in Mayo

I searched Roots Ireland for a baptismal record. I located two records both for Martin McTigue in 1840 and 1841. Both records were in the Aglish RC parish which is in the Castlebar area. The RC parish close to Ballyhaunis is Annagh. Unfortunately. their records start in 1851 which explains why I did not locate a record in Annagh on Roots.

There are two civil parishes in the Ballyhaunis area: Annagh and Bekan. I looked at the 1856 Griffiths Valuation head of household listing for both parishes. In Bekan parish, there were two Tighe entries and in Annagh parish there were two Tige records and one Tigue record. 

Do you have Martin's death record? Does it show his parents names?

Thank you for this information!  I do not have Martin's death certificate, though am searching for that via U.S. sources - he died in Scranton PA, sometime after 1910 (he and his family are recorded in the 1910 census).  I did locate a Martin Tighe's arrival in NY in 1863 via the Castle Garden site, searching on emigrants from Mayo arriving between 1860-65.  His age is noted as 20 and the record doesn't contain any info on family in Ireland (or U.S.) 

I will continue the search!

At last I've located g-grandfather Martin Tighe's death certificate...feel like I've found a treasure!  His parent's names were Mary Burke and Jas Tighe - and the spelling is noted as Tighe (not Tigue).  The name Jas threw me a bit - wasn't sure if it was abbreviated and what it's Irish (or maybe British) roots could be?  

I then located a Jas. Tighe on a passenger list of emigrants arriving in New York from Ireland 1846-1851.  He arrived on July 9, 1849 from Liverpool on the ship "Charlotte".  His age was given as 40, which would make him old enough to be Martin Tighe's father - Martin was born Nov. 1839 and arrived in New York in 1863 on the ship "City of New York".

Martin's mother, Mary Burke - could she have been from Galway?

Any further light you can shed on this Tighe thread would be much appreciated!
