Through genealogical research, I have come across the names of Patrick McGarry and his wife Mary (nee Caffery).  They were both born in Mayo in the late 1840's, possibly in Ballina or Crossmolina, and were married in St Patrick's Chapel, on York Road, Leeds in 1872.  They lived on or around The Bank from then on.  I have no information as to when they left Ireland, however.  Also, we have no documentary evidence which might have helped you, other than the English census records, which are publicly available.

If this might be helpful to you, please get in touch.  Equally, if you have anything which could flesh out their stories, I would be very interested.

My 2nd great grandmother, Miriam Brown, may have been from Scotland, but she moved to Leeds about 1870. My great grandfather Walter Brown was born in Leeds, and they lived at 19 Sunny Bank in 1871, then at 38 Sunny Bank in 1872, and finally 4 Sunny Bank in 1878. I am interested in any Cafferty families that may have settled in Leeds, since Walter Brown eventually married Annie Cafferty when they met in Hartford, CT. Annie's family was from Ireland, but that branch of the family settled in Stourbridge, England, before emmigrating to the US.

Are you gathering names and dates for your research, and will you have a central location where interested people can submit information, and discover their family stories submitted by others?
