I believe Martin O'Malley was born in 1820 in Mayo county but I do not know the parish and I'm hoping someone can help me.  He was married to Anna "Nancy" Kirby, although I don't know what year.  Their first child was born in 1843 in Canada then they moved to Minnesota, United States.

From what I've been able to tell, his father was Martin O'Malley (b abt 1800) and his mother may have been Nora (last name unknown).

Thank you for whatever help you can provide!

  • Hi Denise,

I searched rootsireland.ie births/baptisms for Martin O'Malley born 1820 + or - 5 years and got 3 matches - O'Maley born 1815 Co Galway, Malley 1826 Galway and Maley 1829 Mayo. The only one with father Martin was the 1815 Galway one and none had mother Nora.

I have better news on the marriage front: Martin O'Malley married a ? Kirby in Mayo in 1841.

There are 15 marriages of Martin O'Malley (Malley) in Mayo 1835-50!

There is one entry of Martin O'Malley marrying a Nora in Mayo but it is 1903!

rootsireland.ie is pay-per-view but if you purchase the 1841 marriage record above you would then have a parish in Mayo to work on.

    Cheers

  • Awesome!  Now, how do I purchase/locate the 1841 marriage record?  I have Ancestry's international edition and I don't see it on there.  It starts at 1845.

    I appreciate your help!

  • Just google rootsireland.ie and register.

Put in the details - name year and county and the entry should come up.

You then purchase credit and it's yours.
