My G Grandmother Margaret McNaulty was born in 1881 in County Mayo.  Her father was Patrick McNulty and her mother was Anne Walsh.  I have Anne Walsh's death certificate and she was born in 1848 and died in 1893 in Ballina County Mayo.

Any information would be appreciated.

Was Margaret still in Ireland in 1901. Was her father Patrick still alive in 1901? Do you have names of any siblings?

Is this family of siblings a possibility?

  • Thanks again Roger,  This is a strong possibilty.  in the Canadian Census it indicates that she immigrated to Canada in 1909.  She was born in April of 1881 so this is most likely her and her siblings.  I know nothing of Patrick McNulty except his name on Margeret's baptismal.  At the time of Anne Walsh's death in 1893 she is listed a married.  I would assume if Patrick was deceased it would have said widow.  So I can pressume he was predeceased by Anne.

I am the youngest of six, and my parents are the oldest surviving members of both sides of my family.  They also never maintained much in the way of family history.

    I appreciate the info.

  •  If you search with just the parents names, the listing of results might convince you that you have the correct family in the 1901 census. It also looks like there could be other siblings.  Note that name Ann was used interchangeably with Nancy so those results could also be a possibilities.

The siblings are not found in Bohernasop in 1911 nor any other McNultys.  They possibly immigrated to Canada together. Your best bet may be to research the siblings and possibly find other cousins with more information.

  • Thanks Cathy.

I searched the Canadian 1911 census records and came up empty.  My great grandmother Margeret had two children and one died at an early age.  So my mother had no cousins on that side of her family, and I seem to be the only family member interested in perserving any of this family history.

For me it's like a jig saw puzzle.  I get excited every time I find a new piece.

    Thanks for your info.
