Very happy to have joined this group after I participated in Ryan O'Rourke's Live Google Hangout on TheNewWildGeese.com new website launch. This is a wonderful org and I am hoping to make some new friends. I am planning to be in Ireland at the end of August for a couple weeks visiting the counties that 'could' be the land of my Irish ancetors but after 13 years of serious researching I still have not uncovered any birthpaces as they all arrived in Nova Scotia Canada in the 1700's, between the founding of Halifax in 1749 up to 1800. For reasons of their own they did not hand down their places of origins. My ancestor Matthew MacGuire's son signed his name on his marriage bond as Duncan MCQUARRY and a direct descendent of theirs was an olympic champion rower who said his ancestor came from County Mayo so I am sticking to this county for now. I have never been able to find any MATTHEW Maguires online and i have an extensive tree on ancestry.
I am videotaping my journey with the focus of visiting whatever ancient celtic sacred/druidic sites are in the counties that could be where my ancestors were born in a kind of merging concept for these surnames. I am reaching out for assistance in guidance to those sites in County Mayo

I was hoping I could edit my first post I do not have all my notes with me as I am on the road but attempting to get some help with my locations for my trip to Ireland in sept. I mistakenly wrote that a Maguire descendent was the champion rower in nova scotia but it was John O'neil. I do not have any clues as to where the Maguires came from but my Oneils and Maguires married I will create a new post for that
