I am looking for any information on my gggrandfather Patrick Meade born in Mayo. I have found him in Griffiths Valuation. He was a tenant in Pollawaddy on land owned by Lady de Clifford. Pollawaddy is part of May Abbey I believe. He was married to Honor Burke and the father of my ggrandfather John Meade born abt 1847. I don't know if John had siblings. John left Pollawaddy for Knockaunkeel, Milltown, Co. Galway where he married Catherine Walsh on Mar 2, 1868. Meanwhile, in Mayo I have no idea what happened to Patrick and Wife Honor. Sorry to provide so little info but that is all I have. I remember asking my mom who has now passed about her grandfather John being born in Mayo and she said she had never heard that. I caught it on the 1901 Census. Thanks in advance for any info you can provide.
In 2018, I vivited the Old Mayo Abbey Churchyard where we searched for the name Meade or Burke among the stones but no luck. This was on a weekend and I had no access to the Mayo Abbey Church records.

Mike's Daughter:
The subscription site Roots Ireland has John baptized July 2 1843 at Mayo Abbey with the parents you listed. Sponsors were Matthew Mead and Mary Feeney. Mayo Abbey records start in 1841 https://registers.nli.ie/parishes/1076 . I did not find any baptismal records for siblings. In fact, John was the only Meade baptismal record in Mayo Abbey in the 19th century.
I also did not find their marriage record in Co. Mayo.
Civil registration of deaths started in 1864. I searched the free site www.irishgenealogy.ie but did not see a good lead for either Patrick or Honor.
Let me know if you have any questions.

Hi Roger, thank you for your quick reply. I noticed a lot of Burkes in the nli records but Meade or Mead is very scarce. I won't give up though and I thankyou for your help.
Kind regards, Peggie (Mike's Daughter)
