Where exactly is the Kiltullagh Graveyard?  Both my great grandfather and great grandmother are buried there along with their eldest son, Martin.

Can anyone supply and address so that I might get their records?

Thanks in advance

  • Thanks so much for the information, but it opens up a whole other series of questions.  My great grandfather, Luke Crinigan, lived in Clooncan, Roscommon.  He died in 1890 and from the information I have was buried in Kiltullagh Roscommon Cemetery.  I have not yet been to Roscommon or the area my Crinigan's were from, and this is in a completely different parrish.  Yet both his wife and his oldest son are buried in the same cemetery.  Why would they not have been buried in their own parrish, Kilkeevan?

Kilkeevin parish is just to the north of Kiltullagh parish. Cloonfad is the last townland in the western part of Kilkeevin parish and borders Kiltullagh parish. it is only a few townlands from Ballinlough where there is a church and likely a cemetery. You can contact the church through the link that Cynthia provided above. I found contact info from the Diocese of Tuam web site (see below).

  • Gingerbel,

My grandparents & g grandparents are buried in Kitullagh graveyard also and it is actually a ruin on the top of a hill, you have to go through private pasture land to climb the hill to the old ruin, and climb over an old wall to get in, at least I & family had to when we visited a few years ago. I don't know the number of the road that leads to it but if you make your way to Granlahan Church some one local could give you instructions to get there, above all don't visit in rainy weather and have a good pair of shoes as the whole place is in such a dilapidated condition that you could easily fall and break your kneck! Not very encouraging, am I, however I feel it's important to know what to expect.

I too would love to know if there are any online records for this old graveyard?

I hope this helps a little
