I am looking to connect with some other descendents of John Humphrey Lynch. My 2xGreat Grandmother, Nora Lynch (b.1886), daughter of John Humphrey Lynch and Margaret Kelleher (Kelliher?sp?), grew up with her family in Morley's Bridge and went to school and church in Kilgarvan. Nora came to Manchester, New Hampshire here in the USA around 1904, following her sister's Hannah and Abigail. Nora married my 2xGreat Grandfather Patrick Shea (from Creeveen, Co. Kerry) in 1911.
Because my 2xGreat Grandmother Nora passed away at such a young age in 1918, not much is known of our Lynch-Kelleher family in Ireland. All of the information I have is from the memories of my GreatAunt Rita Shea.
I would love to connect with any and all family!
Go raibh maith agat!

In case you do not have them, below are the 1901 and 1911 census records for Nora's family. They lived in Dromacoosh townland. They must have lived close to the Co. Cork border since some family members were born in Cork and others in Kerry. Nora is shown as Nano in the 1901 census. The 1911 census indicates that Margaret had nine children but only 7 were living in 1911.

Thank you Roger. I had recently come across the census records and found what you sent. Nora's mother, Margaret Kelleher, was from Ballyvourney, Co. Cork which makes sense about her birth and her brother's births being in Cork.
I have been able to find any birth records for Nora, would contacting the Kilgarvan parish be the way to do this?
Thanks again Roger!

Sorry for the delayed reply. I just saw your message. The 1901 census indicates that Nano was born in Co. Cork. I assume that is correct even though her two siblings a little older than her were born in Kerry. You can contact the Kilgarvan church but if the census is correct, they won't have the record. I looked for civil birth index records for Nora in the Macroom registration district (which includes Ballyvourney parish). I did not find an 1886 record only a record for the last quarter of 1884. If you think you want to try to get a copy of this record to check it out, let me know and I'll explain the process for mailing a request to the GRO.

Roger,
Thank you so much for taking the time to look that up for me. Unfortunately, Nora had a brother named Patrick Joseph who was born 30 March 1884 so it would have been pretty tough for Nora to be born later that year. If you wouldn't mind I am very interested in finding out how to contact the GRO as you'd mentioned.
Thank you again,
Michael

Go to this link http://www.welfare.ie/en/Pages/Apply-for-Certificates.aspx In the middle of the page there are links for birth, marriage or death certificates. Hit the link for the form you want. You will likely get a screen asking for a User Name and Password. (This is a program bug that the GRO has to correct). Hit cancel and the appropriate form should come up. Print the form and complete the requested information. Also provide the information from the index record--quarter/year of the event. registration district and the volume and page number where the event is recorded. Make sure you ask for a copy which costs around 4 euros. ( A cert costs closer to 20 euros). You can also ask the GRO to e-mail the copy back to you.
