Looking for information on Martin Devaney born about 1832 and died 1900. He married a cousin, Honor/Hanora Devaney. She was born about 1828 and died in 1888. They lived in Swinford and had seven children that I know of.
Looking for their parents. Any clues would be great.
Thanks!

Debbie:
The 1856 Griffiths Valuation head of household listing for Kilconduff civil parish shows two Devanny records for Cuilmore townland. There was an Owen Devanny and a Bryan Devanny. You didn't mention the names of the children of Martin and Honor. The name of the oldest son might relate to his grandfather. I checked the 1901 census and did find a Bryan Devany and his family in Cuilmore.
The Mormon Church also microfilmed RC church records for the Kilconduff parish area. You may want to order the two films online and review them at a local Family History Center. (see third link below).

Thanks for the information.
The children of Martin and Honor Devaney were (in order of birth):
Honor, Atty, Sabina, Edward, Martin, Julia, and Eleanor/Ellen. All born between 1854-1872.

Martin and Honor probably lived in Drumshinnagh, although their address is given as the adjoining townland of Cuilmore for the births of several of their children.
In Drumshinnagh in Griffith's Valuation (1856), Martin Devanny occupied (no. 21a) a house with rateable annual valuation of 5 shillings on 12a 2r 11p and (no. 22) a separate plot of 6a 0r 7p.

Thanks! I am planning a trip to County Mayo for next year. Any ideas of where they might be buried or where they lived in Drumshinnagh? Also any other places that might be interesting to visit while I am there?

They are probably buried in what is variously referred to as Kilconduff Cemetery or Swinford Graveyard in the townland of Rathscanlon; see
http://irishgraveyards.ie/search.php?area_id=21&yardid=88You can use the records and maps in the Valuation Office in Dublin to identify the precise location of Martin Devanny's 1856 house.
In some areas, the maps accessible via
http://www.askaboutireland.ie/griffith-valuation/index.xml?action=place…
are close enough in time to the Griffith's Valuation occupiers that they can be used to identify the precise location.Unfortunately, the best map website for identifying precise locations has recently been closed down. This link should bring you to a Durkan house in the neighbouring townland of Cuilmore, but is no longer working:

See

and please complain to OSi!There are lots of interesting places to see in Mayo from Knock Shrine to the National Museum of Ireland – Country Life.
