I found the marriage record for my 2nd great-grandparents (see link below). They're the last entry on the right hand page: Mar 5th William Duffy and Honoria Doherty. There is something written after Honoria's name that looks like "in Quaag" but I don't know what that could possible mean. Any ideas? Or perhaps, a different interpretation of what's written?

I know through census records, that Honoria (DOB Abt 1845) had a sister named Ellen (DOB Abt 1939). Any suggestions on how to find out who Honoria is - meaning her parents and other siblings? I've tried rootsireland.ie but haven't found an Honoria and an Ellen with the same parents. I'm sure I missed some.

  • I'm not sure exactly what is stated there, but in the markings on the right on the rest of the page, the priest is indicating the degrees of consanguinity between the husband and wife.  In some areas there were many people of the same name and most were at least distantly related, so the priest would try to figure out whether they were closely enough related that it was an impediment to the marriage.
