Hi. I'm trying to find information about my great-grandparents who came to Pennsylvania from Crossmolina in the 1880's. They were Thomas McGinnis (although the spelling may have been different in Ireland) and Hannah Barrett. I actually spent a couple of days in Crossmolina in the fall of 1971, but the local priest, Fr. McGinnis, was ill so I could not access the parish records. I met many wonderful McGinnis', and partook of the hospitality of a pub or two, but never made a firm connection. At that time the assistant manager of a large hardware store in Ballina shared my name, Dennis Michael. We may well have been related because he, like my father's ancestors, came from County Antrim. I'd like to get in touch with any of his family as well. Thank you for your efforts. This site is a great idea.

Hi, I too am searching great grandparents. My grandfather, Henry Barrett Jr. was born in Philadelphia I believe about 1912. Not sure if there is a connection there.
Good luck in your search!

hello. Not exactly what you are looking for, I know, but I know of a Patrick McGuiness/McGinnis married to an Eleanor Harrison from Crossmolina. They had 10 children and emigrated to Cincinnati, Ohio. But we couldn't find Patrick's family locally. I wonder if there is a connection there? They emigrated in the late 1880's I believe.
