Hi! I am looking for family still in Ireland and from long ago. The family I seek are Edward Fleming (born about 1820-died 1902 Claremorris) and his wife Eleanor Slattery (born ?-died between 1870-1900).Eleanor may be Edward's second wife. They married around 1857. Their children were; Mary,Patrick,John,Ellen,Edward,Bridget,Martin (there are probably others whom I don't know of yet.)Bridget married a John Cullina in 1891 but died 1894(in Ireland),Patrick married Maria Flynn from Galway and stayed in Ireland on father's land, raising his family (father as widower lived with Patrick til died).Son Edward went to England married English girl Emily Cassidy and went to Massachusetts with his family in 1911.The other siblings I know about all went to Massachusetts around 1880's,married and raised families. What I am trying to do is to locate any info at all about parents Edward and Eleanor as I have been through parish registers, vital records etc and can find no births of children (except Ellen,Edward and Martin which came after 1864),no marriage of parents Edward and Eleanor, and no death for Eleanor Slattery Fleming.Even burial records for them have eluded me.Also, I seek to discover any relatives of the Flemings and Slatterys who are around now. I do know according to Griffiths Edward was listed as being in Rocksborough North (this would be around time of his marriage to Eleanor) and also that the family seemed to live around Castlerea,Claremorris at time of births of children after 1864.Any help would be really appreciated.Kim

I found the 1901 census record for the family. The surname spelling was Flemming. The family lived in Castlereagh townland in Crossboyne civil parish. Crossboyne parish is in southeast Co. Mayo on the border with Co. Galway. There are other Flemming households in that townland.

RC church records are available starting in 1862 which explains why you can't find the marriage record or baptismal records for some of the children.
