Search for my Grandfather

Just one Lawrence Fox birth registered in Castlebar in 1922 so hopefully that’s the right one. Birth registered Jul – Sept 1922 Volume 4, page 75. You can order a photocopy of the certificate from GRO Roscommon for €4 (euros).  http://www.welfare.ie/en/Pages/Apply-for-Certificates.aspx

You have to download and print off the form. Then either post or fax it back to them. You can’t e-mail it to them. However if you want them to e-mail the cert to back to you, they will do that, so tick the relevant box.

Put the reference details on the form (anywhere). Don’t worry about leaving some boxes blank. As long as GRO have the location, name(s), year, quarter (where there is one), volume and page number they should find it.

Below is the likely civil birth index record for your father. You can get a copy of the record from the General Register Office for around 4 euros and it should show his parents names and where they lived. Let me know if you need instructions.

Many thanks for your help , it is indeed my father. I sent off for a birth certificate which i duly received , however it isnt that helpfull . My fathers mother is listed as Kate Fox ,birth at home , Castlebar. but no age or address is given, my grandfather wasnt listed on the birth certificate . When my father was registered on the 30th September 1922 a lady called Katie McGrough accompanied Kate Fox . This is all the details i have at present and i am trying to continue with my search , any further help would be appreciated .
