Hello again, Roger.

Now that I'm organizing my Heraty/ Kerrigan/ Moran information, can you steer me in the right direction to find out more about the lineage before them?  it certainly appears they have all come from the County Mayo area.And I'll look into Burruscarra more Kerrigan info.

There are not a lot of resources available when you are looking to the go back to the early 1800s in Mayo. The parish registers start late (Aghagower goes back earlier than most) in many parishes. The only other source is the Tithe listings from the late 1820s/early 1830s http://titheapplotmentbooks.nationalarchives.ie/search/tab/home.jsp  however, many of the Mayo farmers had very small holdings which were not included in the Tithes.

I am also looking for information on a Moran. There should be a  marriage record for 1864 for a James Moran marrying a M'Hale.  If someone could locate this I'd appreciate it. We have a James Moran married to a Sarah Jane McHale - James was born in Mayo in 1843 and they were in Dunmore PA by the late 1860s. Not sure if this is the correct James but it shows in the index so I thought I would see.

On Roots, I located this 1864 civil marriage record.and a church record. The church record shows they were RC but the civil record shows C of I?? See the transcriptions below. Unfortunately, the civil record does not show the fathers names. As you know civil registration started in 1864 and maybe they did not have all the instructions out in the field.

Thank you very much for this. I'm not sure I'm on the right track but this is the first Moran/McHale pair I have found in the correct time period in Mayo. I will investigate to see if they stay in Roscommon or disappear from the records (as my relatives moved to Dunmore PA sometime between 1864 and 1870).
