Hi Patrick,
Ireland Reaching Out is presently being rolled out across the country and we are hoping to have County Mayo on board in the near future. A quick search has yeilded some information regarding the address (Tully) given on your ancestor's birthcertificate. You can have a look at the map for the area at this link: http://www.irishtimes.com/ancestor/fuses/townlands/index.cfm?fuseaction=TownlandsInCivil&civilparishid=1753&civilparish=Drum&citycounty=Mayo
Birth records for some of the siblings you have listed are available for a fee from South Mayo Research Centre or for free from the Family Search website by the Church of Latter Day Saints: https://familysearch.org/search/records/index#count=20&query=%2Bsurname%3Amacken~%20%2Bbirth_place%3Acastlebar%20%2Bbirth_year%3A1850-1890~&offset=0
Other information may be available from http://www.mayoancestors.com/default.aspx
Best of luck with your search!
Please make sure you link anyone else in your family who is interested in their Irish heritage to our site - and indeed anyone else you know of Irish heritage.
Kind regards,

Dear Patrick
To say that I was shocked to see your post a couple of days ago would be an understatement. I have been searching for decendants of the Macken family for 3 years without success. John and Patrick Macken are among the central characters in a book that my brother and I will be publishing early in the new year. The book concerns the land war that took place between 1879 and 1910 on the Belcarra Estate of Harriet Gardiner. The treatment of the Mackens was utterly shocking. They were evicted and imprisioned and ultimately driven from Tully. John emigrated and Patrick died. Almost 130 years after they left there are a few stones left of the gable of their house. I grew up close by.
I have a very significant amount of information on the family and much of this will be summarised in the book. I have lots of questions about the family so I hope that at some stage we can swap notes.
Regards
