I only discovered in the past few years that my GtGt Grandparents came from Mayo. Their marriage record shows that they were married in Ballyhean on May14th 1841 http://registers.nli.ie/static/low/000631981/vtls000631981_076.jpg This record shows that they were James Dolan and his wife was Mary Dolan - her father may have been Dolan Dolan. I have found records of three sons Patrick born 1841.John (my grgrandfather) born 1843 , Michael botn 1845 and Martin who was probably born in Dublin in 1849. They left Mayo during The Great Hunger and eventually settled in poverty in Liverpool. In the census of 1851 the parens were described as "makers of brushes" and the two older sons (11 and 9)., as "hawkers of brooms".I notice tht elsewhere a Loftus family is mentioned - after the death of his wife Mary my gtgtGrandfather married a widow- Julia Loftus in Liverpool. There may also be a link withthe name McDermott as my gtgrandfather was living with a McDermott family in Ashton Under Line in 1861 and one of the McDermott family was living in Liverpool with the Dolans. Are there any Dolans left in the is area? Can anyone advise me on where my family may have come from? I am hoping to visit Mayo again in the summer but this time I will have some idea of where my famiky came from. Any help or advice is welcomed.Anne McCann  Liverpool and Newry
