This is Anne Baldwin from New York, USA. I am trying to find out a probable parish where my ancestors lived. They were Roman Catholics from Lisardboula, Farmers Bridge and Ballyseedy in Tralee

Hi Anne,
Ballyseedy is the parish in the area. Lisardboola is a placename within the parish and Farmers Bridge is a Village. Information regarding Ballyseedy can be found http://www.from-ireland.net/lewis-topographical-dictionary-article/Ballyseedy/Kerry
You can investigate the placenames at http://www.irishtimes.com/ancestor/placenames/ Church records may be of use to you. You could try writing to the parish priest for assistance.
Griffiths Valuation lists a Michael Shaughnessy in Ballyseedy. You can view this record here: http://www.askaboutireland.ie/griffith-valuation/index.xml?action=doNameSearch&Submit.x=49&Submit.y=15&Submit=Submit&familyname=shaughnessy&firstname=&baronyname=&countyname=KERRY&unionname=&parishname=BALLYSEEDY
Civil registration records are available from the General Register Office (GRO). These start from 1864. You can access the website here: http://www.groireland.ie/research.htm . Valuations office in Dublin (http://www.valoff.ie) will have a record of the land registry from 1855 to modern times. This will assist in seeing what happened to any land the family may have owned(as it usually passed on to a relation).
I wish you the best of luck in your search.
Please make sure you link anyone else in your family who is interested in their Irish heritage to our site - and indeed anyone else you know of Irish heritage.
