Looking for any information on the family of Denis McCarthy born about 1784 and Ellen Connor born about 1784. I know they had one son Eugene (Owen) McCarthy born about 1804. The only thing I have to go on is the French Canadian marriage of Eugene McCarthy to Elizabeth Lynn in 1832. It mentions the parents of both the bride and groom. The grooms parents are Denis McCarthy and Ellen Connor of Parish Anna, County of Kerry, Ireland. I do believe they had another son John Michael McCarthy born about 1814. I am the 3rd great-granddaughter of Denis McCarthy and Ellen Connor.
Anything will help.
Thank you
Ellen (Hinman) Dimond

Dear Ellen
Welcome to Ireland Reaching Out and thanks for your query
As you may know, the start dates for parish records vary depending on the parish. Anna is located in the Civil Parish of Killeentierna, Co. Kerry. As you can see below, the Roman Catholic records for that parish begin in 1801: http://www.irishtimes.com/ancestor/fuses/rcparishmaps/index.cfm?fuseaction=showidrecords&CityCounty=Kerry&parish=Killeentierna&churchid=664
As this is the case, you could search www.familysearch.org or www.irishgenealogy.ie for the marriage record of Denis and Ellen and a baptism record for Eugene and any other children they may have had. You may also be able to find a record of Denis McCarthy on the Tithe Applotment Books 1823-1837. Although only the heads of household are mentioned it can be useful:

Best of luck with your search

Accuracy of names and places may not be good and can be misleading. In this case I am suggesting Annagh Civil Parish (Tralee Catholic Parish) for your Denis and Ellen. The McCarthy family were uprooted and some of the more senior branches have fairly successfully followed their movement within Co Kerry and I am familiar with their lienage. Denis and Ellen had two children that were baptised in Tralee RC; Daniel (townland of Clahan/Clahane on 19 Oct 1805 and Julie townland of Ballydunlea on 11 July 1813. There is a possibility that they had Catherine in the Catholic Parish of Killarney baptised 6 Feb 1796. There were a number of Eugene McCarthy's in the Tralee area and that's quite a good guide to follow. The name Eugene is quite common in some O'Connor families as well. The baptisms can be found on the following website irishgenealogy.ie
