I'm researching my great grand-father Neil Begley (born 1840), who put Temple House, Sligo as his address when he immigrated to Australia, somewhere around 1861 at the age of 21. I'm not sure if he was born in Ireland or had come for work. Any information would be appreciated.

Hi Anne,
If he is the Neil who married Mary Taylor, he was born in Stradbally, Laois (Queens County)
His father was Thomas mother Margaret Legg (source death record 1916)

Hi there Brendan
We have Neil married Mary Ann Taylor in 1876. Mary Ann's mother, was Mary Ann Fahey daughter of James & Mary Fahey of Dublin. Mary Ann Fahey was married twice, first to James Martin of Dublin then to James Ashton Taylor here in Australia.
