Hello,

Im looking for info re Bridget Beisty from Addergoole.  Her marriage record indicates she was from there and that her fathers name was Thomas. I've found Thomas in Addergoole on the Griffiths Valuation (and john and Patrick, relatives?) I've also found a census from 1851 with Thomas Beisty and his wife Bridget with their children Bridget, Pat, Mary, John, and possibly Julia who later married Thomas Curry. I am unsure how to locate records from here. The town land is addergoole, parish is aghamore.  Any information would be greatly appreciated.

RC records for Aghamore RC parish do not start until 1864 which is too late for your Beisty family.

I did locate the 1901 census record for Thomas Curry and his wife Judy (Julia).

These three records may also be Bridget's brothers John and Patrick. There are two Johns. Not sure which is her brother.

  • Hi,

Thank you for this information. It was most helpful!  I was able to locate a census from 1851  (attached) I wish there was a way to find out the mother's maiden name and any info about siblings of both parents.

  • Jill:

Technically this is a census search form that was used to prove age when someone filed for an Old Age Pension benefit in the period prior to 1920. There was no requirement to show the maiden name of the mother of the applicant for Old Age benefits.

  • Hi Roger, thanks so much. While I'm glad it gives names of potential siblings and first names of parents I think I'm stuck since aghamores records don't date back far enough to give birth records for siblings or marriage records for the parents.

  • Hi,

Is there a way to find out the address of the 1851 census noted above with Thomas Beisty and his wife Bridget residing in Addergoole, Aghamore?  It was ordered by their daughter Julia Beisty Curry and I believe her siblings are noted on the left side of the form.  I am not able to see an address.

    Thank you!

  • Hi Jill,

Hope all is well with you .... Just to let you know I'm Thomas Beisty from Develeash Kiltimagh ... I done a family tree and Beisty's  had a reunion in Kiltimagh in 2016 that uncovered a lot about the Beasty, Biesty, Beesty, Beisley etc sounding surnames, that are all connected to a king of Connaught at the time of st Patrick....  let me know if you are still here and interested...regards tom
