I am trying to trace descendants of the Clarkes of Shelagh/Sheelagh, Creggan Upper. My grandfather, John Clarke, was born there in June 1866. His father was Patrick Clarke, Farmer, and mother Mary nee Ward. John had several siblings; those known were Michael, born Sep 1863; Ann, born Dec 1864; Thomas, born Sep 1868; Catherine, born Apr 1870; Mary, born May 1872 and Margaret, born Aug 1874. It's possible the family could have farmed in the Kilcurry/Roskeagh area. .

Madeline:
Kilcurry is in Ballymacscanlan civil parish in the Dundalk registration district. I located the 1873 civil birth index record below for a John Clarke. Possibly this is your GF. There was also an 1871 record in the Dundalk district.
I assume John left for England before 1901? I did find this 1901 census record for a Patrick Clarke widower in Faughart Upper townland in Ballymacsanlan parish. No idea if this is the father of John but I thought I would share the record. You can get a copy of the birth record for around 4 euros from the General Register Office. Here is the link. https://www.welfare.ie/en/Pages/Apply-for-Certificates.aspx
Print the form, fill it out and mail to the GRO. They will e-mail the record back to you if requested.
