Hi, am confused. The heading of your message has Templemichael which is in Longford but in your query you mention Templeport which is in Co. Cavan. The dates for Bridget and Miles are very early for church records although Templemichael's may go back to their Baptisms. Miles would probably married in Bridget's parish as was the tradition. Not knowing if or when they emigrated I can only suggest that if you think they farmed for a while you could try Tithe Applotments. For this couple and Pat Waters try Griffith's Valuation, which , if you are lucky will at least give you the townland they lived in.

Hope this helps.

Thank you so much for this information. We are very new to searching records and any information is valued and welcomed.
Most of their children seem to have been born after 1850 so my guess is that their crops failed and had to leave Ireland.
Thank you again for your reply.
Kind Regards

Hi Anne, had no idea you were a beginner in genealogy. Will try to help you if I can. Found the above tree on Ancestry.com and presume it is relevant to you. Had a quick search on Familysearch.org as well and a M Maguire is recorded in the Tithe Applotments at Ballymacormack which is only a mile outside Longford town and would probably tie in with Templemichael. It might be worth googling the townland as I saw cemetery records online. The other note of caution is that the surname is very common in Co. Longford and is also spelled as McGuire.
As regards crops failing, the famine was over by 1849 so it's unlikely they were starving. Would a starving woman be capable of carrying a child and go on to produce more healthy children ? It is possible they decided to emigrate simply to give their baby a better life, more a case of economic migrants which is still the case today in Ireland, unfortunately. I will leave you to search for your Monaghan ancestors which should be more straight forward given their dates and the fact that I am more familiar with Co. Longford. Genealogy is fun and can even become addictive. Wishing you fun !

Ps Have just spotted a Myles Maguire in Cloone Co. Leitrim in 1834 in the Tithe Applotments. This parish was very connected to people near Longford town.Unless you know that they definitely lived in Longford I wouldn't dismiss this. Bridget may well have been from Templemichael but Myles may have been from Cloone and brought her to live there.
