Researching B.Anna Geenty DOB 27 Jan 1833 and her parents named Elizabeth Shaw and Dennis Geenty. Her parents died when she was about 6 years old and her Uncle Edward Geenty moved her to Dublin and then later to the USA. Any information regarding birth, death and ancestors of Elizabeth Shaw and Dennis Genty will be appreciated.

Hello Julie,
Thank you for your query. Do you know the place(s) of origin of your ancestors in Longford? A parish would be very important in making progress with the search. I am struck by the name 'Geenty' - I wonder if it could it be a variant of 'Ginty' which I have come across in north Longford.
Kind regards,
Martin Morris

Greetings Mr. Morris,
Thank you for your reply. Unfortunately, I do not have the benefit of further information regarding Eliza Shaw and Dennis Geenty. Thankfully, a family member, long since passed, recorded the little information we have from information provided by B. Anna, their daughter. Accordiing to B.Anna, her parents died of influenza. I may have an active imagination, but when I was searching various data bases, I found a number of Eliza Shaw and Dennis Ginty entries in the prison records! It may have been a situation where the parents were imprisoned and Dennis' brother adopted the child. Maybe that is a stretch. I might be better off searching for information on Edward Geenty in Dublin. As for the spelling, I do not doubt that the name could have been Ginty and was changed over time. Any advice that you may have for continuing my search will be appreciated. This is a great resource and I will certainly pass the word to others searching for their Irish ancestors.
Regards,
Julie Benedict
