According to a Roots Ireland Marriage Record, my g-grandparents (Thomas Carney and Rosa Mathews) were married in Parish Mullinalaghta, Co. Longford 17 May 1885. It does not have the parents names listed. They lived their married life in Clooneen, Granard where my grandfather Patrick Kearney and his 5 siblings were born. Patrick and 2 sisters (Rose and Mary) went to America before 1911. I am certain that siblings Marcella Kearney and Michael Kearney remained in Clooneen, Granard untill their deaths in 1865 and 1958 respectively. Sibling Margaret married John Kiernan of Curihanna (sp?) in 1927 in Parish of Mullinalaghta and I believe they had a son. I do not know where they settled.
I have found Baptism Certificates for Rose Ann Mathews on 23 Feb 1844 in Granard, County Longford. On this Baptism Certificates, Rose's parents are listed as John Mathews and Maria Reilly.
So I'm looking for any information about the Kearney(Carney) and Mathews families who were part of the Granard scene in the late 1800's/early 1900's and likely earlier.
Thanks for any help you might give me.
Tom Kearney

Tom:
Below are the 1901 and 1911 census records for your family. The surname was shown as Kearney. I also listed the civil marriage index record for the 1885. Thomas' surname was Carney in that record.
If you write to the GRO www.groireland.ie you can get a copy of the marriage record which will show the fathers names and where the bride and groom lived. Fill out the form provide the quarter/year of marriage, the registration district ( Granard) and the volume and page number ( 3 and 159). Costs 4 euros.
