Hello, My name is Diane Dunleavy from Pennsylvania in the United States. My husband Michael and I are planning a visit to Ireland in September of 2017. We are planning on doing a tour of Ireland and then we would like to extend our visit a couple of days to visit County Longford. My husband's grandfather James (Jacobium) was baptized December 25, 1905 in the Diocese of Ardagh and Clonmacnois Clonbroney Parish Ballinalee Ireland. His parents were Michael Francis Dunleavy and Annie Flynn. I found Annie in the 1911 census living in house #17 North Longford. In the 1901 Census the family lived in house 13 in Lislea, Longford. We are interested in seeing the area where his relatives lived. We would be interested in locating a genealogist or historian familiar with Longford. Any information and or resources to help us plan this part of our visit would be greatly appreciated. Since this is a first visit, we feel it would be beneficial to have someone from the area help us to plan and or give us a tour while there. I appreciate any information. We are looking forward to visiting next year.

Diane:
Welcome to Ireland Reaching Out!
We do not have a current parish liaison in the Clonbroney/Granard area but let me contact our HQ staff and see if they know of a resource in the area.
Below is a link to the civil birth record for James. Looks like he was born and baptized on Christmas Day.You will have to sign-in to see the record. Civil records are available for free access on www.irishgenealogy.ie

Roger:
Thank you for your quick response to my post. I appreciate you contacting your HQ staff. I want to thank you for sending the link to the Civil record of James. I have the church records but not the Civil so this was very exciting for me. I look forward to doing more research in the Civil records for the Dunleavy family.
