Hi Hans
There are 2 baptism records for Mary Nicholls with father John & mother Margaret in Longford on www.rootsireland.ie/
However they are both 1841; both are from LONGFORD RC parish.
I'm not sure if it's the same record twice.
rootsireland charges to view the record which MAY have Margaret's surname; it may also have where they were from
I couldn't find a marriage record for John & Margaret or a death record for either in Longford
The Tithe Applotments 1823-37 (free online) have 26 Nicholls in Longford but Granard is not mentioned.
Griffiths Valuation (1848-64 free) has only 1 Nicholls in Longford but not in Granard
There are no Nicholls in Longford the Irish phone book

Thanks Col but this can't be the Mary I'm looking for as she was 18 whena arriving in Sydney so she would have been born around 1830/1. I keep looking.
Cheers

OK but given the transcription errors and literacy issues with Irish records just keep these in mind especially as the parents' names match and they were the only records that came up. Also they are baptisms not birth records so could she have been baptised as a 10 year old?
I tried findmypastireland, familysearch and ancestry to no avail
