My grandmother Mary Anne McLaughlin birth record shows she was born in Urbalreagh and the witness to her birth was her Uncle Donald McLaughlin the birth records notes that he was living in Magherard. --District of Malin in the Union of Inishowen.
I have looked for both Urbalreagh and Magherard on several maps on Donegal and have been unable to locate where these area are.
Have these areas been re-named or do they not exist anymore? If so what would be the nearest present day location?? Thanks for you help in this matter.

Hi Valerie,
Thank you for your message.
Urbalreagh and Magheryard are both townlands in the parish of Clonce. A townland is the smallest division of land in Ireland, sometimes it may only refer to a few fields. I found the two townlands on Google maps, here is the link:
A useful websites when it comes to place names in Ireland is www.logainm.ie
