Searching for town/area where my 7th GGF migrated in 1767 to Charleston,South Carolina aboard a protestant ship. Probably came on one of three ships. The James and Mary (Larne); Prince of Wales (Belfast); Betty Gregg (port unknown). Passenger names for these three ships lost.
Some Harkins came to South Carolina from Carndonagh/Ballloskey but do not know if kin. Hugh lived for a time in Belfast, South Carolina. Hugh received 150 acres through the Bounty Act 1761 and had listed a wife Elizabeth or Sarah Elizabeth (last name unknown). There were two James Harkins, a John Harkins, and a Thomas Harkins in the 96th District in 1779. In 1794 Hugh Harkins bought 150 acres in Pendleton District S.C.
I hope to find family/area in Ireland prior to my visit next year to Donegal.
