Thank you again John. I will follow this up today.
Are James and Catherine buried in Shanagolden? I went online yesterday to research the Shanagolden cemetery and note that there are several in the district - Robertstown, Mt Pleasant, Shanagolden, Kilmoylan and Knockpatrick
Would the records of the burial be held locally? Would their gravestone stand today?

Thank you John - that document is most useful.
I note on the batismal records that the date for all the baptisms is Jan -01
Is this just a generic date used or added by the databse because no date was provided for baptism?

Dear John
Happy New Year from down under!
Followed your advice and joined the other parishes - some we closed and some did not have joining pages.
Family lunch tomorrow with a visiting cousin so we will be swapping family photos and information. They are all delighted to know we have found Bridget's family. The connection is important to us.
I have found James burial record on Roots Ireland and will double check it by writing to parish priest.
Accepted your linked in invite. Note you suggest I contact you via yahoo email. Hope it is ok that I continue to ask you for help with information and hints. I most certainly am learning alot about irish geneology
will look up Glin now..
Kind Regards
MAria

Dear John
hope the weather has improved for you over your way.
we are in the height of summer so it is hot
Met with family members over the last week and discovered that of James and Catherine's children only Brigid (my great grandmother) to NZ; Anna and Maria (Mary) went to Aust; Catherine and James stayed in Ireland. so I will use Roots Ireland to begin to track thos two. My cousin said that there was an Edward as well and that he cam to NZ. I will follow up on him as well.
You mentioned that you would give me a hand with my other ancestors. I have:
Archibald Edward Delargey - Ballycastle, Antrim (no 7 of 11 children I just found out!) - Parents were Patrick Delargey and Mary McLean. He was born in 1843. I have found two of his siblings - Neal who travelled to NZ with him and died there. The other is Robert born May 1853. But I am not sure what happened to him nor what happened to other siblings.
Archie married Brigid Fitzgerald.
Andrew Lee, born in 1829 Lurraga, Roscommon to Micheal Lee and Brigid Early. Andrew was 18 years old when he emigrate to NZ. He arrived here on the lady Nugent ship. Andrew married Anne McGowan from Roscommon once he arrived in Dunedin , NZ. Anne was illerate and had to sign her documents with an x. She died in her late 40s due to "cause of death recorded as general decay over a period of 9 years:. Thia upsets my mother terribly. We think Anne was born around 1839 to John McGowan and Catherine Carty. We are trying to find out about both Andrew's and Ann's family back in Ireland. To our knowledge they did not have other family members come out with them. I did find a deathreord for a John McGowan for 1857 - Spa, in the parish of Spa, Roscommon, Ireland. we think that John might have been born in County Sligp but have run into a dead end there. We have the following details for catherine Carty: Birth 14 Aug 1808 in Athleague, Roscommon, Ireland and Death 7 Jul 1864 in Boyle, Roscommon,Ireland but are not sure if we have it right.
Mary Brigid Curtin born to Patrick Curtin and Mary Bellet -n Lackmore townland in June 1840 (baptised 27th June and registered in the Miltown Malbay parish.) Her grandfather, James Bellet had land in Lackamore and that is the address given on the baptismal record. Mary is one of 5 recorded children from 1831 to 1844. Mary and her sister Annie, left Ireland for Victoria Australia before travelling on to NZ where Mary settled in Arrowtown with Thomas John McEntyre. Would love to know if anyone could point me in the right direction re possible graves for Mary's parents - Patrick and Mary Curtin. Also it would be good to know more about the Bellet line and Patrick Curtin's family.
My great grandfather, Thomas John McEntyre was born on 1 / 12 / 1832 to John McEntyre and Mary Lynch. Early records give Thomas's place of birth as Laoy or Lavy (unclear handwriting), Cavan, Ireland. We really want to locate early records and his place of birth. Thomas was RC. He left Ireland for Australia in the 1850s where he married Mary Curtin from Clare. They left Australia and settled in Arrowtow, Otago, NZ. Thomas has left a strong family McEntyre clan in NZ. The house he built by Lake Hayes, still stands. It is magnificent. He was a hardworking settler. He had a brother, Owen, with him from 1866 to 1870 after which time there is no record of Owen. He may have returned to Ireland.Early NZ records sometime spell the surname as McIntyre, but mostly McEntyre
My other set of grandparents from Ireland were Peter Ford/e and Brigid Higgins from the parish of Annaghdown, Galway. Brigid lived in Drumgriffin townland and was born 1839 .Peter lived in Lisscannenan townland. He was born in 1843 to Martin Forde and Margaret Hardiman I have a copy of their marriage record courtesy of Roots Ireland database. They arrived in 1862 on the ship the New Great Britan and landed in Bluff, the very bottom of NZ. They settled in Southland NZ. I have been trying to find their Irish relatives on Roots Ireland. Peter had a sister, i think, called Sabina - passed down through the family over the various generations as has Peter's name. I was also trying to locare their parents' death records
My aunt told me last week that there is a family story that a number of people from the Ford/e were to catch the boat to NZ . They were two groups with onearriving at the Galway port earlier that the other - Brigid and Peter who had just married got on the boat to NZ. The others who apparetly were illiterate got on a boat to the US! Whether it is just a good yarn or try, I do not know.
You will regret asking me about my other connectons to Ireland!!
Do not worry if you are too busy and cannot lookig into these other lines
Kindest regards
Maria
