So My Grandfather, Patrick Henry Howe McCarthy was born 3/17/1863 in Killoughteen, Newcastle West, Co. Limerick

His parents died when he was 8 years old. His oldest brother and local parish priest Father Carrick were appointed as his guardians. His father, Patrick McCarthy was a McCarthy Moor, as such entitled to one of the 35 thrones occupied by as many kings in the county of Munster, named McCarthy...according to my grandfather's words.

My grandfather's father, referred to above, was Patrick McCarthy, born abt 1808, died 2/13/1875 in Killoughteen, Newcastle West, Co. Limerick.

My grandfather's mother was Ellen Hough, born abt 1824 in Dually, Limerick and died 5/10/1874 in Killoughteen, Newcastle West, Co. Limerick.

Their Children were :

1 - Michael McCarthy born 9/28/1844

2 - Margaret McCarthy born 1846, died in Chicago

3 - William McCarthy born 4/3/1847, died in Newcastle West

4 - Catherine Angela McCarthy, born 4/3/1850, died 3/6, 1910 Chicago

5 - Mary McCarthy, born 3/22/1853, died Indiana

6 - Daniel McCarthy born 4/26/1855

7 - Anna McCarthy born 12/12/1857

8 - Hanora McCarthy born 1858, died in Newcastle West, 10/2/1873

9 - my grandfather, Patrick Henry Howe McCarthy, born 3/17/1863, died San Francisco 7/3/1933

10 - Ellen McCarthy born 7/2/1862

There was a Roman Catholic Parish of Newcastle West.

McCarthy as noted above, had a daughter: Margaret McCarthy who married Mr. Toomey. They had a daughter Bridget Toomey who married John Smith. My older sister, Claire met them about 10 or more years ago, they lived outside Newcastle West, (possibly Killoughteen ) If I could find them or their kids that would be great:)

Trish at Newcastle church found out Bridget Toomer died in 2004, I've asked her to see if they had descendants, she will get back in a day or so.
